Welcome to
Neighbours From Hell
Australia
The purpose of this web site is to provide information and resources to assist individuals who have become involved in the distressing experience of a neighbour/neighbourhood dispute. The main focus of this web site is New South Wales as that is where we gained our experience and these are the regulations and laws that we are now all too familiar with. Having said that all states and territories of Australia have similar or equivalent laws and processes, some better some worse, and we will attempt to provide links to as much of that information as possible.
If you have become a victim of bullying, harassment, intimidation, loud noise, and general antisocial behaviour visited upon you by a neighbour. If you feel intimidated and under siege in your own home or when you go outside your house then you have found yourself living next door to the Neighbour From Hell (NFH) and you need to take steps to regain your life.
If you have come here looking for methods of revenge you have come to the wrong place and it is probable that it is you who is (or is about to become) the NFH. The aim of this site is to provide information and links to resources that will help you to manage and cope with the situation that you have (no doubt unwittingly) found yourself in. We are not offering legal advice, we are merely wanting to impart some of the information and experience that we have gained since late 2004 when our own neighbour from hell saga started. We hope that we can save you some of the distress and mistakes that we made in our journey so far.
Dealing with the neighbour from hell is no easy task, they are cunning slippery irritating and sometimes dangerous critters, they need to be handled carefully and in a reasoned, mature/adult way –maturity and reason is probably not something your NFH is going to contribute (if they were mature and reasonable they would not be the NFH) but don't underestimate their intelligence and cunning and don't be surprised at their seemingly endless capacity to provoke and annoy.
It is quite probable that your NFH has not progressed beyond the mental age of about 12 or 14 and is stuck in a state of being the equivalent of a school yard bully. If you are going to gain the high ground – we consider the high ground is a relatively peaceful existence free of annoyance, intimidation and aggravation - you will need to be patient, determined, thorough and mature. Try to relax and not become obsessed with the situation there are steps you can take and as the NFH in Britain site reminds you constantly YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Unfortunately we have not arrived at making this web site without having gained considerable experience with the NFH; 'the whole nine yards' as they say, fence disputes, planning complaints to council, threats and assaults and the subsequent court cases and AVO's, and seemingly endless and on going childish provocations, so in the content of this web site we will try to cove the various legal methods you have at your disposal to quiet the beast next door and in the process we will explore some of issues that make the NFH what he or she is.
